As we are all impatiently waiting for winter to be over and Spring to come and warm our vampy hearts, I for one, cannot wait for the summer 2017 trends.

It seems like some of the biggest trends I see floating around is festival makeup, holographic and glitter. With all this glitter and madness going on, I’m going to help you navigate through it all and try and help you figure out what works best for you.

Eyes

If we look at the trendy looks, glitter is at the focal point of all this. The bigger the shine the better the visual. But for us tamer ladies and gentlemen who don’t want their face covered in glitter; rest assured there are some alternatives. If you really want just a hint of glitter, then put a little bit on the bottom inner corner or use glitter to make a thin winged liner. If you don’t feel like messing with glitter at all, then use a more metallic or foiled eye shadow. You can get them as individual pans but if you already have an eye shadow color that you love and it has a little bit of shimmer in it, but you want it too look more intense, then add a drop of Visine eye drops or spray your brush with a makeup setting spray e.g. MAC FIX+ and apply your shadow. With those mixing mediums you’ll have a more pigmented and metallic eye shadow application. This method will give you a metallic effect on the eyes but without the hassle of glitter.

Lips

The lips can be the easiest part of your look. It all depends on the intensity you want to achieve. Typically, if you do a bold eye look, you’ll want to pair it with a more neutral eye look. The same goes the other way around. If you want a bold lip, you’ll pair it with a neutral eye look. But as you know, makeup is art and at the end of the day it washes off, so you do what you like, and of course, what feels comfortable. This summer’s trend is always changing, but we are still seeing the metallic lip trend. Whether it’s a liquid lip, a traditional lipstick or a lip gloss, these options are available in different intensities. Some are extremely metallic some are more of a satin finish and others have a slight reflect to them.

If you’re not into that trend, or your looking for something more neutral there are an infinite number of options available. Some of the more popular colors on trend right now are corals/peaches, berries/purples, reds and of course, your nudes (lipsticks only!) All these colors come in different finishes and they have different intensities.

Face

One word. Highlighters. These gems have been in the spotlight in the makeup industry. The more blinding the highlight the better the Gods can see you. You have different formulas for highlights. You have powder, liquid, and cream. They all vary in intensities as well, but in my opinion the powder formulas are the best. There are some amazing highlights on the market now that are luxury and drugstore. Some great ones are from Becca Cosmetics, NARS, and Bobbie Brown. Some great drugstore highlights are from Wet n’ Wild, E.L.F, and Essence.

If your feeling festive and avant-garde, then this highlighter may be for you. It was all the rage last summer and so many people and makeup companies have tried making similar one. I introduce…the rainbow highlighter. This may seem impractical, but if you’re feeling colorful then this is something that will definitely be trending again this summer. Another big trend when it comes to highlights is chunky glitter. People have been using them as highlighters, and in their hair. Of course if it’s your style, you can rock that anytime, but it’s mostly for parties and events like Coachella.

There it is ladies and gentlemen! Some of the summer trends to look forward to. If you have any questions on specific things, send me a message and I’ll be sure to get back to you. Enjoy!
